Final Year Project, Part ONE
Behind The Veil
This project is about portraying historical religious icons and events through the modern society and modern humans, with a artistic expression. These religious images are my interpretation of a set of eyes and my personal thoughts.
My choice of events and people come from my personal opinion which I, myself would like to put a question to this specific denomination and the images are more or less an abstract interpretation of these religious icons and events.
I have always been fascinated over people who are strongly believers over a religion,
who live and breathe for it everyday.
I am fascinated of the way people with a religious views still are living by the old standers of what is right for their religion and that the new development of human device that has become a modern society goes against their beliefs.
The veil is used throughout my project to symbolize protection and have the religion symbolism in it . Protecting a society of for example gays and independent strong career woman, from what the Pope Benedict would compared not to be accepted. The Veil is also used to put my opinion in perspevtive, they are behind the Veil and therefore protected from what is actually correct, “your thoughts and your belifs.
The use of the grey scale in my images comes from that, Christianity is in turn characterized by a strict dualism between good and evil, between clean and unclean, black and white. There are no shades of gray or room for doubt. “Whoever is not with me is against me”as Jesus so aptly puts it.
